The IB Primary Years Programme (PYP)
At Wells International School Bang Na, the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (PYP) guides our approach to teaching and learning. The PYP is an internationally recognized framework designed for students aged 3 to 12 that focuses on developing curious, thoughtful, and compassionate learners who are prepared to engage with the world around them.
The PYP encourages students to become active participants in their own learning. Rather than simply memorizing information, students ask questions, explore ideas, and investigate real world topics through inquiry based learning. Teachers guide students through meaningful learning experiences that help them develop critical thinking, problem solving, collaboration, and communication skills.

Developing the Whole Child
The PYP focuses on the development of the whole child. In addition to academic learning, the program supports students' social, emotional, physical, and creative growth.
Through the PYP framework, students develop important attributes such as:
• Curiosity and a love of learning• Respect for others and different perspectives
• Confidence in expressing ideas and opinions
• Responsibility for their learning and actions
• Empathy and compassion for their community and the world
These qualities reflect the IB Learner Profile, which helps guide students toward becoming caring, principled, and open minded individuals.
Student Agency
At Wells Bang Na, we believe students learn best when they are given opportunities to make choices and take an active role in their learning. Student agency is an important element of the PYP and encourages students to ask questions, set goals, and reflect on their progress.
Students are encouraged to take action based on their learning, whether through community service, environmental initiatives, or projects that support their school and local community.
Preparing Students for the Future
The PYP provides a strong foundation for lifelong learning. By developing curiosity, independence, and critical thinking skills, students leave Wells Bang Na prepared for continued success in their education and beyond.
Most importantly, the PYP helps students develop the confidence and character needed to become responsible global citizens who are ready to contribute positively to their communities and the world.
A Collaborative Learning Community
Strong partnerships between teachers, students, and families are essential to the success of the PYP. At Wells Bang Na, parents are important partners in the learning process. Through parent workshops, learning events, and regular communication, families are invited to participate in and support their children's educational journey.
Our teachers work collaboratively to design engaging learning experiences that reflect the interests and needs of our students while maintaining high academic standards
